Even if you didn't go to Ichthus this year, there's food for thought here.
These are places and themes we thought about on the trip.

Day One: A relationship with God is a journey,
a process.

Until we take the first step to believe and trust Him, we are parked. Our life is really going nowhere. When we start by faith, we begin the journey that will last our whole life long.
Day Two: The Kingdom of God
is like a mustard seed.

According to Jesus, our relationship with Him and our faith may start very small like the mini mustard seed. But it can grow to be the most important biggest thing in our life.
(It lasts forever too.)
Day Three: Just what is a Christian anyway?
We defined what a Christian is: Someone who loves God and chooses to follow Him. Someone who has commited their life to Jesus and does their best to love Him and our neighbors. Someone who becomes part of the Church (baptized, attendance, communion, being a part.)
How does one become a Christian? Prayer starts it all as we open up our life to the love and mercy and forgiveness of God. Some people go forward at a big meeting like Ichthus. Some pray with a friend or pastor or on their own. Making the first step of commitment of giving our life to God is the start.
Several of us told how we became Christians. Have you ever told someone your faith story?
Day Four: Love one another.
Jesus gave us a new commandment: "Love one another as I have loved you. By this will all men know you are my disciples, if you have love, one for each other." We told each other what we loved about each other. It started with, "nice hair, nice hat" but then we realized we're talking deeper than just outward appearances. We all felt really loved in the best Christian love kind of way.
Day Five: the journey home
We went back to the steps and talked about our relationship with God being like the steps. They led up to an incredible building, and we talked about our journey with God leading to Heaven. Some of the guys noticed some cute girls at the top of the steps, and they wanted to get to Heaven right away before those girls left.
We thought about where we are in our journey with God. Then, on the count of three we all moved to the step that represented our journey. No one was allowed to change when they saw where their friend was going.
We had all made at least the first step. What step would you stand on right now?
